The hasbro.com game site answers that question. Anyone who became a member before February 2, 2008, said automatically defined as a member of the gold. He also said that the members after the 2nd Of February, from 4 Animals for their own status and then stumbled Goldmember. I hope that answers your question!

As a way to thank all of our "early adopters", who has hit a Littlest Pet Shop VIP, between October 2007 and 2 February 2008 updates itself automatically a Gold member. This includes everyone, regardless of the number of pets they had conquered.
As of February 2, 2008, any person who has adopted 4 animals in the same account is a member of the gold.
Benefits for Gold members are:
- Exclusive access to VIP tree house on the island
- Exclusive games will be added over time, and only accessible to members of the Gold VIP Treehouse
